Microsoft may have unintentionally shared a sneak peek of Xbox's future game streaming device. The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, tweeted a photo that inadvertently displayed the device resting on a shelf in his Microsoft office.

From the captured distance, viewers can make out what appears to be a small white box that somewhat resembles the build of the Xbox Series S. This makes it different from the original assumption that it might be in the form of a pluggable stick that can be directly connected to a HDMI port.

Codenamed 'Keystone', Microsoft initially announced plans for an Xbox streaming device a year prior. It was intended to be a dedicated model for accessing Xbox games through the company's Xbox Cloud Gaming service.

It is assumed that the Xbox streaming device will include a lightweight user interface to launch Xbox games plus access to media apps such as Netflix. The company acknowledged the name of the device earlier this year and stated that they are still working on giving the device a new revision.

In the meantime, users can already check out Xbox's TV app. It's now available on Samsung's latest lineups of smart TVs and monitors. The app can launch games from Xbox Cloud Gaming and it supports game streaming in 1080p and up to 60fps. Connect your Microsoft account by logging into the app to begin streaming.

The company has not made an official comment on the Xbox streaming device's cameo. Interestingly, however, Xbox's Twitter account sent a reply to Spencer's tweet which said: "Now what did we say about putting old prototypes on your shelf boss." Fans can only connect the dots in the meantime.
