Could BLACKPINK fall victim to the "seven-year curse"? BLINKs are worried.

The "seven-year curse" is when K-Pop groups lose a member or disband near their seven-year anniversary. In common cases, this is due to the fact that contracts with K-Pop agencies last only seven years. Some former groups that have fallen to the curse are SISTAR, 4MINUTE, miss A, KARA, and 2NE1.

Fans believe that BLACKPINK's contract will end in 2023. While BLINKs hope that the girl group will decide to renew as four members, others believe that the YG Entertainment girl group might disband. Notably, there are three main reasons why fans think this.

One of the reasons stems from Jisoo's May 27 interview with Rolling Stone magazine. BLACKPINK is the first girl group to have an interview with Rolling Stone. Though some of the comments Jisoo made worried BLINKs. Mainly, the "Snowdrop" star revealed that being a global star does not appeal to her.

This made BLINKs think that if BLACKPINK does not disband, Jisoo might choose not to renew her contract.

The second reason BLINKs are worried is BLACKPINK's lack of comebacks and frequent solo social media updates. BLACKPINK is the only girl group that has gone for over a 20-months without a comeback. The girl group members are not even suffering injuries or issues.

The final reason that has worried some fans about disbandment is the rise of new rookie girl groups. Since BLACKPINK's last comeback, a plethora of talented K-Pop girl groups, such as SM Entertainment's aespa, JYP Entertainment's NMIXX, Starship Entertainment's IVE, Source Music's LE SSERAFIM, and more, have debuted.
