Don Lee’s ‘The Roundup’ Becomes The Most-Watched Korean Film This Pandemic Era

Don Lee's action-packed movie was seen by over 7 million moviegoers.

Eternal's star Don Lee reprised his role as the beastly cop Ma Seok Do in the second installment of the hit "The Outlaw." Directed by Kang Yoon Sung and Lee Sang Yong, "The Roundup" continues to see box office success and has recently crossed a milestone no other movie made during this pandemic era.

According to the Film Promotion Committee's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, Don Lee's "The Roundup" was watched by 265,349 people on the 31st of May, recording a cumulative audience of 7013,000. "The Roundup" achieved such staggering numbers just 14 days after opening.

At the same time, whether "The Roundup" will become the first movie to surpass the 10 million viewers mark since the pandemic has emerged as a concern. 

The last 10-million K-Movie was "Parasite," which won the  Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and Best Picture at the American Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, "The Roundup" takes place four years after the events of the Garibong district roundup operation.In the movie, Ma Seok Do together with Captain Jeon Il Man, played by Choi Guy Hwa, are asked to repatriate a fugitive involved in a series of bloody crimes. The two cops follow a bloody trail of evidence left by a terrifying killer named Kang Hae Sang and played by actor Son Sukko.

Don Lee is a Korean-American actor who made his name known internationally with his iconic roles in movies like "Train to Busan," and "The Outlaw." Additionally, Don Lee made his debut in the Marvel cinematic universe as Gilgamesh, one of the "Eternals."
