Apple’s Latest iMovie Update Adds New Features That Help Speed Up Video Making
Apple's fresh iMovie 3.0 update for iPhone and iPad has a major new Magic Movie and Storyboards feature that are both designed to make video creation easier and more stylized.
iMovie is the pre-installed video editing application for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS devices. It was originally released in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 application and has received multiple updates since for modern features and tools.

With the latest update, the Magic Movie option helps users to instantly create "a polished video from the clips and photos a user selects, automatically adding transitions, effects, and music to the edit."
To create a Magic Movie, a creator can simply select an album of their choice, or any group of photos or images from their library, and Magic Movie will instantly identify the best parts of the footage and create the project. Users then have the option to rearrange or delete those clip sequences or perform additional edits for a more curated result.

On the other, the Storyboard feature "gives users a major head start in the video creation process, helping beginners learn to edit and improve their storytelling skills."
The app's update offers 20 different templates that creators can choose from covering many video types, "including cooking tutorials, Q&As, product reviews, news reports, and more," Apple said in a press release. Storyboards each have shot lists, illustrative thumbnails, and tips on how to shoot a clip to make it more interesting.
Both of the new features in iMovie 3.0 further include a variety of stylistic options such as titles, filters, transitions, color palettes, and music, to help personalize the final presentation of a video.
Presently, The iMovie 3.0 update is already available for all devices running iOS and iPadOS 15.2 or later. Apple had previously teased these new features back in March.
