Many talents have been discovered thanks to the various survival programs launched by Mnet. Despite the voting manipulation scandal surrounding the franchise, idol survival programs such as the Produce series have been the front-runner in producing top-tier idol groups. I.O.I, WANNA ONE, IZ*ONE, AND X1 are the products of the Produce series and some of the debuting members have marked their name in the South Korean music scene.
Aside from idol survival shows, Mnet has also produced survival shows highlighting rappers. Such programs are the "Show Me The Money" series and "The Unpretty Rapstar." Now, Mnet is looking for the top dance crew among thousands of aspirants.
On July 5, Mnet announced their newest survival program, "Street Woman Fighter." The show will highlight female dance crews who will fight their way up to securing the grand prize. Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter" was created by produce Choi Jung Name and will feature eight teams. It is set to premiere in mid-August.
Additionally, reports have confirmed that Produce 101 Season 2 winner and WANNA ONE center Kang Daniel will be the MC for the new competition program. Kang Daniel shared that it is an honor for him to be able to MC a program. The CEO and solo artist have also expressed that he is excited to witness first-hand the amazing stages by the female dance crews.
