In 2019, former Produce 101 Season 2 contestant Samuel Kim announced that he is leaving his agency Brave Entertainment to become an independent artist. However, Samuel's announcement was responded with a lawsuit as Brave Entertainment claims that it was a unilateral decision by the singer.

Samuel's side also filed a counter lawsuit against the agency after the singer's failed attempt to terminate his exclusive contract, citing issues that led to a breach of trust towards the other party. Additionally, Samuel's legal team has also filed a separate criminal charge against Brave Brothers for alleged embezzlement, forgery, and fraud.

Recently, it was reported that the police decided to drop the charges filed by solo artist Samuel Kim against Brave Brothers and their company Brave Entertainment. Due to this, Samuel has released his official response to the police decision in favor of the Brave Brothers and Brave Entertainment.

"I find it regretful that even though I provided evidence related to the above charges and requested an investigation while cooperating with the police as much as possible, the results were as described above," Samuel lamented in his statement.

The solo artist expressed that this is not the end of his battle with the entertainment agency. He shared his plan to re-appeal the decision and request a re-investigation as soon as possible. Samuel also requested the prosecution to carefully examine the case.

"I plan to appeal this decision as soon as possible and request that the prosecution carefully look over the case to see if there weren't any shortcomings within the investigation and whether the case was investigated thoroughly," Samuel stated.

The former 1Punch member also spilled some details regarding his complaint against the Brave Brothers and Brave Entertainment.

"Brave Entertainment requested that I, who was a minor at the time, pay 1 billion won [approximately $885,214] in damages-a figure that is not clearly supported by evidence-and publicly asserted that while they had done nothing wrong, I had filed a lawsuit with malicious intentions, confusing the public with falsehoods and ruining my image."
