'Minari'

The predictions were true. One of the heavy favorites to win in major awarding ceremonies, "Minari" has clinched the Best Motion Picture, Foreign Language category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.

Telling the story of a Korean-American family, "Minari" takes on this family that moves to a farm in Arkansas to seek the American dream. They face challenges in this new life with the Ozarks, described as strange and rugged, as they discover the joys and the goodness of being resilient and what defines a home.

Hollywood's awards season kicked off Sunday at a very different Golden Globes, with winners dialing in remotely to a ceremony that battled through technical glitches and a few awkward moments as the stars doled out prizes and confronted controversy over a lack of diversity among event organizers.

With comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opening the virtual ceremonies, films "Nomadland" and "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" are the biggest winners. The two movies were awarded Best Picture, "Nomadland" for the drama category, while "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" clinched the award for the comedy or musical division.

"Nomadland" director Chloe Zhao became the first woman to win Best Director since 1984 when Barbara Streisand was awarded for "Yentl."

In television, the big winners were "Schitt's Creek," "The Crown," and "Queen's Gambit," among many other productions that bagged awards.

The Best Animated Feature and Best Music Score awards went to Pixar's "Soul."

"Minari" director and writer Lee Isaac Chung, also an American screenwriter, accepted the Best Foreign Language Film award. He thanked the cast and those who helped make the movie a success, including his young daughter. He said, "She's the reason I made this film."

This award-winning film stars Steven Yeun, Yeri Han, Noel Kate Cho, Alan Kim, and Youn Yuh-jung, among many others.

Congratulations to the winners at the Golden Globe Awards!
