On January 31st, TWICE fans from all over the world witnessed the very first "OT9" performance for "I Can't Stop Me" on the 30th Seoul Music Awards stage.

TWICE Jeongyeon is back!

Jeongyeon's surprise return is the first time that the lead vocal of TWICE appeared with her groupmates Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and, Tzuyu on stage since the announcement of her hiatus in October 2020.

Prior to their Seoul Music Awards performance, TWICE's agency, JYP Entertainment, did not announce that Jeongyeon will be joining her bandmates on stage. So it has become a complete surprise to fans.

For Seoul Music Awards, TWICE performed their 2020 releases: "MORE & MORE" and "I CAN'T STOP ME."

After 107 days of hiatus, fans are happy to see that Jeongyeon was able to join her TWICE sisters in receiving their second "Bonsang" award of the year. Recently, TWICE received a "Bonsang" award for "MORE & MORE" at the Golden Disc Awards, however, Jeongyeon was absent from the ceremony.

Moreover, after attending the award show, Jeongyeon greeted her fans through TWICE's official Instagram page. The TWICE lead vocalist posted a selfie along with the caption, "It was nice seeing you, ONCE."

Why Jeongyeon went on hiatus?

Prior to the release of TWICE's "EYES WIDE OPEN" album, JYP Entertainment released an official statement stating that Jeongyeon would not be participating in the upcoming promotions.

Through their official statement, JYP Entertainment revealed that Jeongyeon has been struggling with "psychological anxiousness" and so will be stepping out of the promotions in order for her to seek professional help and focus on her well-being. This decision was made after lengthy discussions with Jeongyeon and the other TWICE members.

Jeongyeon was the second member of TWICE to go on hiatus. In 2019, TWICE member Mina also stepped out from their tour and promotional schedules to focus on her mental well-being.

TWICE fans are appreciating the effort of JYP Entertainment in considering the mental well-being of their artists.
