'Outlander' Actor Sam Heughan Wears Kilt In Buckingham Palace Event
Sam Heughan has graced the halls of the Buckingham Palace of his presence over the weekend. The Outlander actor hosted a special event with his alma mater, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, at the royal residence in England.
Heughan is not new in meeting royalty but this time around, it is at the Buckingham Palace itself. The actor shared a photo of himself standing on stage while an orchestra at all set up behind him. The orchestra is composed of students and graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
In his post on Instagram, the actor said the group entertains the guests for the night that includes Prince Charles. Heughan noted how proud he is to be invited to the event. He also praised the performers of the night.
This isn't the first time Heughan has taken part in a royal event. Last month, Prince Charles visited the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow and Heughan was among those who greeted the royalty.
It did not come as a surprise that Heughan has been invited to host RCS's event at the home of the monarch. The 39-year-old Scottish actor is an RCS alumnus. He graduated from its acting program in 2003.
The RCS provides undergrad and postgrad studies in music, drama, modern ballet, production and film for over 1200 students. Prince Charles has been a patron of RCS since 2003.
Sam Heughan rose to fame for portraying the role of 18th-century Scottish Highlander, Jamie Fraser. In the first seasons of Outlander, Jamie is often seen in a kilt. Seeing him again looking gorgeous in the traditional dress of Gaelic men is a delightful sight for fans.
Meanwhile, the cast and crew of Outlander are currently filming Season 5 in Scotland. Heughan will reprise his role as Jamie along with other original cast members such as Caitriona Balfe (Claire) and Duncan Lacroix (Murtagh). Joining them in the next installment are Sophie Skelton (Brianna), Richard Rankin (Roger), César Domboy (Fergus), and Maria Doyle Kennedy (Aunt Jocasta).
Outlander Season 5 is based on Diana Gabaldon's book, The Fiery Cross. The TV series is expected to return with its brand new season in fall.
