Korean actor Ma Dong Seok could be joining the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe family if things go well. Ma has been confirmed to be in talks to star in the upcoming Marvel movie, The Eternals.

The film is based on the comic series of the same name written by Jack Kirby that was first published in 1976. It is about an ancient, powerful race of beings, called the Eternals. They look human but are genetically far more superior. They possess super strength, have power to regeneration, and more.

The Eternals' rival group is known as the Deviants. They were created by cosmic beings called Celestials. The Guardians of the Galaxy films have established the existence of the Celestials in the MCU.

Ma's agency, Big Punch ENT, said the actor has yet to be confirmed for the role. Big Punch said they are still waiting for a response from Marvel Studios. If things go well, this would be Ma's debut movie in Hollywood.

There have been reports that Hollywood A-list actress Angelina Jolie will be playing the main character in the movie, an Eternal named Sersi. Pakistani-American stand-up comedian-actor Kumail Nanjiani is also in negotiation to join the cast.

The Avengers: Endgame producer Kevin Feige will produce The Eternals while The Rider director Chloe Zhao will helm the movie. Feige already talked about the movie during the recent press conference for Captain Marvel.

"Everything after Endgame, and after Spider-Man: Far From Home, will be different and be unique, as we try to make every film... Eternals are one group, but we like the idea of introducing an ensemble, doing an ensemble movie from the start, as opposed to building up as we did with the first Avengers. More like Guardians, not totally, but in terms of introducing a new group of people," he said.

Marvel has yet to announce a release date for The Eternals but the studio has already set two dates for Marvel releases for 2020: May 1 and November 5. Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow film could be released in May 2020 while The Eternal could take the November premiere date.

Meanwhile, K-drama fans have shared their excitement of the news about Ma Dong Seok's possible appearance in a Marvel movie. Many already said they will definitely watch The Eternals if Ma will be in the cast. Some also expressed hope that the actor will use his Korean name rather than his American name Don Lee.

Ma Dong Seok's impressive performance in the zombie movie Train To Busan propelled his popularity among international fans. He further rose to fame when he appeared in Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds in 2017 and returned for its sequel Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days in 2018. His other notable movies are the Champion, Unstoppable, and The Outlaws which gave him a couple of Best Actor awards.
