'NCIS' Alum Pauley Perrette To Star In CBS's Pilot 'Broke'; Calls His Sitcom Family The "Most Decent" In Hollywood

Former NCIS actress Pauley Perrette is clearly no beef with CBS. The actress is set to star in a new sitcom pilot of the network, titled Broke.

The actress will be playing the role of Jackie, a bar manager who is a tough, sharp-witted, and loving but struggling single mom of a 9-year-old boy. Jackie is the sister-in-law of the lead male character, Miguel, which will be portrayed by Jane The Virgin actor Jaime Camil.

Broke follows the life of a wealthy trust fund baby, Miguel (Camil), who suddenly gets cut off by his father. This forces him and his wife to move in with his wife's estranged sister, Jackie (Perrette), and share her Reseda condo.

Broke logline indicates that Jackie is not thrilled when her sister and brother-in-law suddenly show up on her doorstep. However, she remembers how much she loves her sister and will eventually learn to appreciate them both in her life. Jackie is also described as "feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a toolbox."

Camil will serve as an executive producer of the multi-camera comedy pilot along with Will & Grace and Modern Family EP Alex Herschlag. The pilot was also written by Herschlag and directed by Victor Gonzalez.

Perrette famously played the role of forensic scientist Abby Sciuto for 15 seasons in CBS's longest running procedural drama NCIS. The actress exited the show before Season 15 wrap up in May 2018.

After her departure, Perrette claimed she had been the victim of "multiple physical assaults" on the set of NCIS. The actress, however, did not give any specifics about the assaults but said "a very rich, very powerful publicity machine" has been spreading lies about her and trying to keep her silent.

CBS responded to Perrette's accusations at the time and admitted that the actress approached them with a "workplace concern." The network said they worked with her to find a resolution of her concern. Perrette thanked CBS for protecting her.

In her recent post on Twitter, Pauley Perrette called Camil and the cast and crew of Broke as the "nicest" and "most decent" people in the industry. Perrette also replied on Camil's tweet thanking the actress for agreeing to work with him.

"Brother, @jaimecamil I went with the nicest most decent people in Hollywood. YOU and the team!" she tweeted.

Broke doesn't have an official pickup from CBS yet. If the pilot shows an impressive result, fans could see more of Perrette when CBS orders a full series.
