Song Joong Ki 2018 Comeback: What Would Be Song Hye Kyo's Husband's Next Project? To Possibly Reunite With 'Descendants Of The Sun' Co-Actress Kim Ji Won

Song Joong Ki took a break from the entertainment world since he got married to Song Hye Kyo in October 2017. Now, fans have been waiting to see what his next project would be, and it looks like the 32-year-old star is going to be reunited with his Descendants of the Sun co-actress Kim Ji Won.

Rumors are swirling that the Descendants of the Sun stars Kim Ji Won and Song Joong Ki will be reunited once again in a new drama series. In fact, a source from Starship Entertainment revealed the news on Sunday, April 29.

"Kim Ji Won received the offer for tvN's new drama Asadal [working title] and is in the process of positively reviewing it," the insider said, per Soompi. This show is also reportedly offered to Song Joong Ki, although he is not yet making any decisions about it. Hence, if the two Descendants of the Sun stars accept this project, fans will once again see them on the small screen together.

As Song Joong Ki's agency Blossom Entertainment has not formally announced whether or not he will accept to do Asadal, fans are assuming he is considering taking the project. With that, they are now celebrating in hopes to see him once again on the small screen. In fact, Drama Fever reported there are good signs he will be playing a role in the upcoming television series.

Asadal is described to be a historical drama that will be co-written by the Tree with Deep Roots and Six Flying Dragons writers, Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon. It will be directed by the Nice Guy director, Kim Jin Won. So, if Song Joong Ki accepts this project, he could be playing the character of a prince, a mysterious guy, or a captain of the royal guard. The show is expected to be filming and will be released in 2019.

Meanwhile, Asadal is not the only project Song Joong Ki was offered at the time of his hiatus. To recall, Blossom Entertainment earlier revealed he refused to play a role in the Netflix drama, Kingdom. The show is about a prince who is set to protect an entire kingdom from zombies.

"Song Joong Ki has turned down his role in 'Kingdom,' " the agency said in a statement, per Koreaboo. It has been said Running Man's original cast wanted to put all of his attention to his wedding with Song Hye Kyo at the time. For now, no formal announcement has been made about his next project.
