TOP of Big Bang has been hospitalized due to prescription overdose. As of this time, the medical team attending to the singer revealed that from the emergency room, they wheeled him to the intensive care unit as they determined that his condition is already critical.

TOP is currently confined in Ewha Women's University Mokdong Hospital and it was reported that on June 7, a press briefing was held in order to give an official update regarding the Big Bang member's condition. In a statement, the doctors relayed that they are doing what they can to stabilize his health.

"Our emergency medical technicians examined him and found that the patient was between a state of deep sleep and semi-consciousness with contracted pupils, only showing a reaction to strong stimuli," Soompi quoted the hospital's head of public relations, Dr. Kim Han Soo, as saying.

"In addition to an increased blood pressure and heart rate, T.O.P was also suffering from unstable breathing due to low levels of oxygen and high levels of carbon dioxide."

To illustrate how TOP is exactly doing with regards to his health, Dr. Soo narrated that when the idol was examined, if given a strong stimuli, there are moments when he would open his eyes, however, he was not able to focus and would go back to deep sleep.

The doctor added that such medical case can lead to respiratory arrest or brain damage if not treated properly. But the team thinks that this worst scenario will not happen to TOP.

On June 5, TOP was at his platoon headquarters when his buddies tried to wake him up at around 7:30 a.m. the next day. The singer just opened his eyes for a second and fell back to sleep so they thought he was just very tired and left him to sleep some more.

Noon came and they noticed that the still sleeping TOP was sweating profusely and they could not wake him up. At this point, they decided to rush him to ER.

After the tests, doctors said that TOP overdosed with medications, tranquilizer in particular. It was learned that the singer has been taking this medicine as prescribed by hid doctors to cope with his anxiety and insomnia.

On June 6, after the news about TOP spread, not only the VIPs but other major Kpop fandoms expressed their support to the idol. The hashtag #StayStrongTOP trended worldwide on Twitter, Allkpop reported.

Finally, fans were worried and deeply concerned because before this happened, the Big Bang member is also facing difficulty due to his marijuana scandal. He was also recently expelled from the police force in Gangnam where he was assigned for army service.
