Apple Watch Latest News & Update: Earnings Remain A Mystery; Update Makes Gas Payment Easier
Apple Watch earnings remains a mystery as Tim Cook continues to be silent about the real smartwatch sales. After creating the product for the tech giant that is noted to be very significant, the CEO has never released the revenue or unit sales of the popular wearable. But, recently, it seems that the Apple executive gave a hint of the sales.
Tim Cook Hints Of A Likely Apple Watch Sales Figures
The Apple Watch is almost the size of a Fortune 500 company. This was disclosed by Cook, who have been silent about the wearable earnings. While this information gives a positive hint on the Apple Watch sales, it still fails to provide the accurate figures that show how well the wearable device is doing. In fact, it merely boasts of the sales of the smartwatch that doubled from last year, although this happens when the wearable earnings are combined with the same revenue category of AirPods and Beats products.
Meantime, Burlington Stores is at rank 500 on Fortune 500 list, with more than $5.1 billion in annual revenue. Given such, this could mean that the combined annual revenue of the wearable products of the Cupertino-based tech giant, including Apple Watch is at least $5 billion, Patently Apple reported.
Apple Watch Can Now Be Used For Paying Gas
Apple Watch payments get additional support from ExxonMobil's Speedpass+, letting the users charge the gas bill with just a tap on their wrist. According to reports, the update will allow any Apple Watch users to authorize a payment with the use of any stored option they choose, either through Apple Pay or a manually inputted credit card.
ExxonMobil initially included Apple Pay support to Speedpass+ in March last year, while the new updates are expected to be implemented at over 10,000 Exxon and Mobil gas stations in the US, The Verge reported. Learn about the 7 More Awesome Apple Watch tricks here:
