Super Junior's Leeteuk once risked his life in order to save younger member Kyuhyun. The 12-member boy band's leader and his bandmate Shindong both appeared as guests Thursday at KBS' "Happy Together" where they recounted a major car accident that happened a decade ago. The incident that could've killed one of them put their leader's quick thinking and sense of responsibility to the test and showed just how much he cared for his members.

The 2007 car accident that involved four Super Junior members and two managers was so huge that Leeteuk received 30 stitches on his forehead and 150 more on his hip. Yet when the ambulance and rescue workers arrived, he instinctively told them to attend to the younger member instead, who sat right behind the driver's seat and suffered the most. The 31-year-old Shindong elaborated what a sacrifice their 33-year-old leader did then. "Eunhyuk was taking care of Kyuhyun and I was looking after Lee Teuk, but he was bleeding so much. The rescue workers brought the stretchers to take him, but he wanted them to take Kyuhyun first," he said, according to Koreaboo.

Super Junior members also talked about the horrific accident during an appearance on MBC's "Radio Star" in 2012. According to Leeteuk, they just finished a recording on "Super Junior Kiss the Radio" and already driving home when the accident happened. One of the van's tires suddenly burst causing it to run into a guard rail and even flipping over on the driver's side. They later found the unconscious Kyuhyun about 20-30 meters away, with his clothes torn. Their manager who was driving then took the blame and even went "on his knees on the road, screaming that he was going to commit suicide." The tragedy, Eunhyuk said then, made them realize just how important each of the group members is.

The reliable leader also showed his wits when Leeteuk scrutinized Korea's top MCs Yoo Jae Suk, Kang Ho Dong and Shind Dong Yap on the same show and described each of their strong points and differences. The SM artist will reunite with the Super Junior boys as they prepare a comeback this year. Eunhyuk, Siwon and Donghae will return from the military while Kyuhyun is expected to enlist later in the year.
