Sepultura Reunion 2015 Happening? Ex-Vocalist Max Cavalera Releases Statement
While the Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura is still active in the music scene, fans have been dying to see if an original Sepultura lineup reunion would be possible, so much so that rumors from fans have surfaced that there will be an alleged reunion this 2015.
While it seems plausiblem, ex-vocalist Max Cavelera has released a statement that shut the rumor down. In an interview with DCHeavyMetal.com, Cavalera, 46, has been asked if a classic band lineup would be possible in the future. The original band lineup was composed of himself on vocals and guitar, Andreas Kisser on guitar, Paulo Xisto Pinto, Jr. on bass and his brother Igor Cavalera on drums. They were formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, capital city of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
In the interview, Cavalera stated his thoughts regarding the Sepultura reunion 2015. "[It's] probably not [going to happen], you know. I mean, I don't see it happening and I don't really care much about it," he said. "I think the time has gone. When it was exciting to do it was, like, ten years ago."
"You know, when I was with [Sepultura], we did great stuff," he added. "The records were amazing and the live shows were killer, and a lot of that is captured on video and people can see it. [I think it's best] not to ruin it, because a lot of those reunions, they're not really good, you know, so it's like, why ruin something that was good?"
"So I think it's kind of better to leave it like that, you know," Cavalera concluded.
Meanwhile, his brother Igor previously stated that the current Sepultura lineup should call it quits. He stated that the current band members are "deteriorating" the band name itself to their fans by continuing their activities without him and his brother.
"It's tough," Igor added, according to an interview with LoudTV.net. "But at the same time, [there's] nothing that we can do about it. We've gotta do what we do and keep playing."
In relation to the rumors about a 2015 reunion for Spultura, it can be recalled that Max Cavalera left the band in 1996 when the rest of the band members fired their then manager Gloria Bujnowski, who happened to be his wife. Igor left 10 years later due to "artistic differences." Since then, they formed the band Cavalera Conspiracy, debuting in 2007 and still performs actively today.
