Meizu MX6 Release Date Set Later Than Chinese Counterpart Xiaomi Mi 5; To Be Unveiled In MWC 2016

Meizu MX6 release date has been reportedly set at the MWC 2016. Its Chinese rival Xiaomi Mi 5, meanwhile, will hit store shelves a day after its Feb. 20 debut.

According to previous reports, these two upcoming smartphones will be in a tough battle when released to the market as they will run on the latest chipsets: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Mediatek Helio X20. The said chipsets will be competing against the upcoming Samsung Exynos 8800

Also, the upcoming Meizu MX6 specs have been revealed trough an AnTuTu benchmark test on Weibo ahead of the release date, GSM Arena reported.

According to IB Times, the Meizu MX6 will also be the first to house a deca-core processor paired with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. It has two Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz, four Cortex-A53 cores running at 2.0 GHz and an additional four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. This core setup is apparently called "tri-cluster."

The leaked AnTuTu test also revealed that the Meizu MX6 pulls off a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels display and a 3GB of RAM. Like the Xiaomi Mi 5 it will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its Flyme UI on top of it.

Meanwhile, its upcoming rival the Xiaomi Mi 5 has 5.2 inch screen display with 2K resolution and two storage variants of 32GB/3GB and 64GB/4GB. Price starts at around 1,999 yuan and 2,299 yuan respectively for the two models.

As a quick overview, the MX5 which was launched July 2015 has octa-core processor, 3 GB RAM, AMOLED display, dual SIM with dual 4G and 20.7-megapixel primary camera. Internal storage options is at 16GB, 32GB and 64GB,ABP Live  reported.

So far, these are the only information revealed for the Meziu MX6 and Xiaomi Mi 5. Stay tuned for their official specs and features as well as any changes on the release date.
