Jungkook's "Seven" Just Hit 3 Billion Streams. No Asian Artist Has Done This Before.
The number landed on Monday. "Seven (feat. Latto)," Jungkook's 2023 solo debut single, crossed 3 billion streams on Spotify - the first time any Asian artist has reached that threshold with a single track in the platform's history. BigHit Music confirmed the milestone on Tuesday. As of this writing, "Seven" is the only song by an Asian artist in Spotify's all-time Top 100 most-streamed tracks, sitting at No. 64.
The scale of the achievement is clearest in context. "Seven" was released in July 2023 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 - the first solo debut at that position by a Korean act. It stayed on the chart for 15 weeks and dominated both the Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts for seven consecutive weeks, another first for an Asian artist. The music video crossed 600 million YouTube views in April. And it has now been on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global chart for 153 consecutive weeks - the longest run for a solo single by an Asian singer, still climbing nearly three years after release.
That last number is the one that matters most commercially. Three billion streams in aggregate is a monument. A 153-week chart presence is an active business. "Seven" is not a song people streamed once and forgot; it is a song that has stayed inside the listening habits of a global audience across two and a half years of continued rotation. For a track released mid-military service cycle - when BTS as a group was inactive - to sustain that kind of catalog momentum is the clearest available evidence that the group's individual members built genuine solo audiences rather than simply borrowing from the group's fanbase.
"Seven" is also the only song released anywhere in 2023 globally to have reached 3 billion streams. Jungkook's solo album Golden, released that October, has separately crossed 7 billion total streams - also a first for an Asian solo album. His personal Spotify profile has surpassed 10.5 billion cumulative streams across all credits, reached in the shortest time of any Asian singer.
Jungkook is currently on tour with BTS as part of the Arirang World Tour, which arrived in Madrid today for two shows at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu - the group's first concerts in Spain. "Seven" is not on the Arirang setlist. It doesn't need to be.
