Cho PD Launches 'ChoCo La Familia': K-Pop's Most Watched Trainee Group Finally Drops Their First Album
Four trainees from ChoCo Entertainment - the label founded by first-generation Korean rapper Cho PD - released their debut family album ChoCo La Familia on February 24, 2026, backed by a live showcase at Shocking K-Pop Center in Seoul's Mapo district.
The project brings together Yechan and Taejo (ChoCo1, male unit) and Anpan and Yunji (ChoCo2, female unit) for five tracks built around two contrasting double title songs. "GIMME" rides a punchy, elastic beat layered with strong vocals, while "FRENZY" flips the energy entirely - heavy bass, stripped-back melody, and a scale that Yunji says rewards headphone listening. "There are details hidden inside that grand sound," she said at the showcase. "Our message is woven into the lyrics - we hope people actually feel it."
The album leans hard into hip-hop attitude over polished idol packaging, which fits the backgrounds of the people making it. Yechan, who co-wrote "GIMME," described the track's spirit bluntly: "No matter what you give us, we already have everything." He said working on the lyrics made him genuinely like the song - not the usual press-day answer.
Yechan and Taejo have been building toward this for years. Both competed on Mnet's survival show Boys II Planet in 2025, where Yechan finished 40th and Taejo placed 45th. The two have been producing their own music and choreography since childhood, and both participated in ChoCo Entertainment's earlier 2023 pre-debut content. ChoCo2's Anpan, originally from Thailand, and Korean member Yunji round out the lineup with a contrasting energy - Anpan described as a natural-born performer, Yunji as an all-rounder with more punch than her softer image suggests.
Cho PD attended the showcase. Yunji credited him directly for keeping the group grounded: "He kept telling us to focus only on succeeding right now. That's how we got here."
