Rosé Thanks Bruno Mars After Historic Grammy Performance: "You Brought Out My Inner Rock Chick"
BLACKPINK's Rosé expressed gratitude to Bruno Mars following their opening performance at the 68th Grammy Awards, where she became the first K-pop soloist to perform at the ceremony.
The 28-year-old singer shared her feelings on Instagram February 4, calling the February 1 experience at Crypto.com Arena a "literal dream" despite leaving empty-handed.
Breaking K-pop Barriers at Music's Biggest Night
Rosé and Mars kicked off the Grammy Awards with an energetic rendition of "APT." The duo's performance marked a historic moment-no K-pop soloist had ever taken the Grammy stage as a lead performer until that night.
"Thank you to the Grammys Recording Academy for my first incredible Grammy experience," Rosé wrote. She thanked Mars specifically for "bringing out the inner rock chick in me."
Mars responded to her post with "Te amamos" (Spanish for "We love you"), and later shared a photo of them enjoying pizza after the show with the caption: "Count on me and Big Bad Rosie to be eating a pizza after a show!"
Three Nominations, Zero Wins
"APT." received nominations in three major categories-Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. These marked the most Grammy nominations any K-pop song has received.
However, all three awards went to other artists. Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "Luther" won Record of the Year, Billie Eilish's "Wildflower" took Song of the Year, and Ariana Grande with Cynthia Erivo's "Defying Gravity" claimed Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Despite the losses, the night represented progress for K-pop at the Grammys. KPop Demon Hunters' "Golden" won Best Song Written For Visual Media, becoming the first K-pop song to win a Grammy in any category.
Chart-Topping Success Beyond Awards
Since its October 2024 release, "APT." dominated global charts. The song spent 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Global 200, peaked at number three on the Hot 100, and became the fastest K-pop song to reach one billion Spotify streams.
Rosé won Song of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards for "APT."-the first K-pop artist to claim that category. Apple Music named it the biggest song of 2025 globally.
In her Instagram post, Rosé thanked her styling team "for making me feel like a doll all night long. I loved every moment of it."
