UNIS Releases English Version of 'mwah...' Ahead of First Americas Tour
K-pop group UNIS has released an English version of their Japanese single "mwah..." on January 28, building momentum ahead of their debut tour across North and Latin America.
The eight-member group-Hyeonju, Nana, Gehlee Dangca, Kotoko, Yunha, Elisia, Yoona, and Seowon-dropped the English adaptation on major streaming platforms at midnight KST. The release comes just days before UNIS kicks off their "2026 UNIS 1st Tour: Ever Last" with an opening show in New York on January 28.
"mwah..." was originally released as UNIS's second Japanese digital single on December 17, 2025. The track captured listeners in both Korea and Japan with its bright melody and the group's signature cheerful energy. Written and composed by Japanese singer-songwriter KORESAWA, the song expresses the playful jealousy and possessiveness that comes with falling in love through candid, cute lyrics.
The English version maintains the original's emotional core while adapting the lyrics to connect with global audiences. UNIS plans to perform the English version for the first time during their Americas tour, using the multilingual approach to bridge language barriers and strengthen their connection with international fans.
After its December release, "mwah..." topped the iTunes J-Pop charts in Ireland, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines. The song also charted in the upper ranks on iTunes in Germany, the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Australia, and Canada, demonstrating UNIS's growing global reach.
The timing of the English release appears strategic, positioned to maximize audience engagement ahead of the group's first major international tour. "Ever Last" represents a significant milestone for the rookie group, who debuted in March 2024 through the survival show "Universe Ticket."
The tour launches in New York on January 28, followed by stops in Philadelphia (January 30), Washington D.C. (February 1), Charlotte (February 3), Atlanta (February 4), Jacksonville (February 6), Nashville (February 8), Cleveland (February 10), Chicago (February 11), Ottawa (February 13), and Dallas (February 15). UNIS will then head to Latin America with performances in Buenos Aires (February 19), Santiago (February 22), and Mexico City (February 25) before concluding in Los Angeles on February 27.
The tour spans 15 cities across two continents, reflecting the group's ambition to establish a presence in Western markets. F&F Entertainment has indicated additional tour dates may be announced, suggesting the possibility of expansion into Europe or other regions.
UNIS formed through SBS's "Universe Ticket" survival program, which brought together contestants from South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and other countries. Since their debut with the EP "We UNIS," the group has built a dedicated international fanbase called EverAfter. They earned their first music show win in April 2025 with "SWICY" and have consistently released music that showcases their vocal abilities and performance skills.
The release of "mwah..." in multiple language versions follows a growing trend among K-pop acts using multilingual strategies to reach diverse audiences. By offering Korean, Japanese, and English versions of their music, UNIS positions themselves to compete in an increasingly globalized entertainment landscape.
