BTS Dominates January 2026 Brand Rankings as March Comeback Nears
BTS claimed the top spot in South Korea's January 2026 singer brand reputation rankings, fueled by mounting excitement for the group's full reunion after nearly four years.
The Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute analyzed 116.39 million data points from December 24, 2025, to January 24, 2026, tracking consumer engagement across social media, news coverage, and online communities. BTS scored a brand reputation index of 7,409,314-an 8.81% jump from December's 6,809,220.
BLACKPINK surged to second place with 6,213,487 points, marking a dramatic 76.65% increase driven by their ongoing world tour. Trot singer Lim Young-woong ranked third at 5,231,902, though down 13.60% from the previous month. Hwasa and IVE rounded out the top five.
The rankings use four metrics: participation (search volume), media coverage, communication (online discussions), and community engagement. BTS led in three categories-media index (927,857), communication (2,545,645), and community (3,674,716).
Keyword analysis revealed fans are most focused on BTS's "full group comeback," "Run BTS," and "March 20th"-the release date for their fifth studio album ARIRANG. The album drops March 20, 2026, featuring 14 tracks and multiple physical editions including ten vinyl variants.
Named after Korea's UNESCO-recognized folk song symbolizing longing and homecoming, ARIRANG marks BTS's first group release since 2022's Proof. The album precedes their ARIRANG World Tour launching April 9 at Goyang Stadium, spanning 82 concerts across 34 cities through March 2027.
Seoul officials conditionally approved a free comeback show at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, expected to broadcast live to 300 million viewers in 190 countries. HYBE described it as an event on the scale of the World Cup or Olympics.
Individual BTS members dominated separate rankings. Jimin topped boy group member rankings with 4,142,149 points-his 35th consecutive month at number one. Jungkook placed second (3,709,736), Jin fourth (2,358,914), and V sixth. All seven members landed in the top 25.
Among boy groups specifically, BTS led with 7,976,571 points (up 16.85%), followed by EXO, Stray Kids, and SEVENTEEN. Among all idol groups combining boy and girl groups, BTS scored 7,665,021 (up 23.19%), with BLACKPINK and IVE following.
The brand reputation rankings track digital buzz through big data analytics but don't directly measure album sales, chart performance, or concert revenue. Critics note the methodology favors groups with active promotional cycles and large online fandoms.
BTS's reunion follows the June 2025 discharge of all seven members from mandatory South Korean military service. The group began working on ARIRANG in July 2025, with Jimin confirming the album's completion in November.
Pre-orders for ARIRANG opened January 16 through Weverse Shop and the official BTS store. Tour tickets for North American dates go on sale January 22-24, with Asia and Europe dates announced separately.
