MAMAMOO's HWASA secured her third consecutive win on SBS "Inkigayo" with "Good Goodbye" on January 18, earning a triple crown and bringing her total music show wins for the song to five.

HWASA claimed first place on the January 18 broadcast of "Inkigayo" with 6,045 points, competing against Apink's "Love Me More" and LE SSERAFIM's "SPAGHETTI" (featuring BTS's j-hope). The win came without a broadcast appearance, demonstrating the song's sustained digital dominance.

This marks HWASA's third "Inkigayo" win for "Good Goodbye" following victories on December 7 and January 11. The three consecutive wins on the same music show earn the song a "triple crown" - a prestigious achievement in Korean music shows. Including wins on MBC's "Show! Music Core," the song has now collected five total music show trophies.

Record-Breaking PAK Performance

"Good Goodbye" continues its unprecedented Perfect All-Kill (PAK) streak. According to iChart, the song had accumulated over 700 PAKs as of mid-January 2026, with reports indicating 656 PAKs as of January 13 and the count continuing to rise.

The achievement places "Good Goodbye" second on the all-time PAK rankings, surpassing NewJeans' "Ditto" (655 PAKs), BTS's "Dynamite" (610 PAKs), and IU's "Celebrity" (462 PAKs). Only HUNTR/X's "Golden" ranks higher with 1,484 PAKs, though that group includes international artists. Among Korean solo artists and groups, HWASA now holds the highest PAK record.

A Perfect All-Kill occurs when a song simultaneously tops all real-time, daily, and weekly charts across Korea's six major streaming platforms: Melon, Genie, Bugs, YouTube Music, FLO, and VIBE. HWASA first achieved PAK status on November 30, 2025, and the song has maintained its chart dominance since.

Viral Performance Sparked Chart Success

Released on October 15, 2025, "Good Goodbye" experienced a dramatic reverse surge following HWASA's performance at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards on November 19. She performed barefoot with minimal staging alongside actor Park Jeong-min, who stars in the music video, recreating emotional scenes from the video. The intimate performance went viral, with clips of their chemistry flooding social media.

The song reached number one across all major Korean charts 38 days after release, making HWASA the only female soloist to achieve a PAK in 2025. She joined an exclusive group of just four songs that achieved PAKs in 2025: IVE's "REBEL HEART," G-Dragon's "Too Bad," HUNTR/X's "Golden," and "Good Goodbye."

Global Chart Impact

Beyond domestic success, "Good Goodbye" made waves internationally. The song debuted at number one on Billboard Korea's newly launched Hot 100 chart, becoming the inaugural chart-topper and holding that position for two consecutive weeks. It also reached number one on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart and peaked at number 43 on the Billboard Global 200.

Domestically, the track swept six categories on the Circle Chart and continues dominating streaming platforms. The song also topped iTunes charts in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Kyrgyzstan.

First Solo Concert This Weekend

HWASA will meet fans at her first-ever solo concert, "2026 HWASA CONCERT <MI CASA>," on January 17-18 at Kyung Hee University's Grand Peace Hall in Seoul. The shows mark her first standalone concert in 12 years since her 2014 debut with MAMAMOO.

The timing coincides with HWASA's peak solo career success, offering audiences an immersive showcase of her distinctive musical identity. The concert title "MI CASA" (My House) suggests an intimate atmosphere where HWASA invites fans into her personal musical world.

Emotional Artistry Over Formula

HWASA co-wrote "Good Goodbye" with An Shin-ae and producer Park Woo-sang. In a recent interview with Sung Si Kyung, she explained the creative process: "I was really stuck on the lyrics for the B part. At the time, Shin Ae was also going through a kind of goodbye in her life, so she sent me lyrics that perfectly fit that section."

She emphasized that commercial success wasn't the primary goal. "I didn't make this song to be a hit. My goal was to express the feeling of being trapped in my own emotions as honestly as possible. Knowing that people truly felt that emotion makes me happier than the song hitting No. 1."

The mid-tempo R&B ballad features dual Korean-English lyrics exploring whether a truly "good goodbye" exists. HWASA's performance approach emphasizes emotional storytelling over traditional idol choreography, delivering what she describes as "scenes" through music rather than dance routines.

Since signing with PSY's P Nation in June 2023, HWASA has released self-directed music including "I Love My Body," "NA," and "Good Goodbye," establishing creative control over her artistic direction and cementing her position as one of Korea's most distinctive solo artists.

As "Good Goodbye" continues accumulating PAKs with no signs of slowing, HWASA's already historic chart run may climb even higher in the coming weeks.
