HWASA has reached an unprecedented milestone in Korean music history. Her single "Good Goodbye" accumulated 656 Perfect All-Kills as of January 13, placing the track second on the all-time leaderboard and first among all Korean artists.

The achievement surpasses major hits including NewJeans' "Ditto" (655 PAKs), BTS' "Dynamite" (610 PAKs), and IU's "Celebrity" (462 PAKs). Only HUNTR/X's "Golden" sits higher with 1,484 PAKs, though that group includes international artists. Among Korean solo acts and groups, HWASA now holds the record.

Viral Performance Sparked Chart Domination

Released October 15, 2025, "Good Goodbye" climbed steadily before exploding after HWASA's November 19 performance at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards. She performed barefoot with minimal staging alongside actor Park Jeong-min, who stars in the music video, recreating emotional scenes from the video.

The chemistry between the two went viral immediately. Social media flooded with clips of their interaction, and the song shot to #1 across all major Korean platforms 38 days after release. HWASA achieved her first PAK on November 30 and hasn't left the top since.

The R&B ballad features dual Korean-English lyrics exploring whether a truly good goodbye exists. HWASA co-wrote the track with An Shin-ae and composed it with producer Park Woo-sang. She explained in a recent interview that she struggled with certain verses until An Shin-ae, experiencing her own goodbye, contributed lyrics that fit perfectly.

Chart Performance Beyond PAKs

"Good Goodbye" made HWASA the only female soloist to achieve a PAK in 2025. Just four tracks reached this milestone last year: IVE's "REBEL HEART," G-Dragon's "Too Bad," HUNTR/X's "Golden," and HWASA's release.

She collected four music show wins, including her most recent victory on SBS "Inkigayo" on January 11. Remarkably, HWASA won multiple trophies without appearing on the shows-her digital performance alone carried her to victory.

The song also debuted at #1 on Billboard Korea's newly launched Hot 100 chart, making history as the inaugural chart-topper. It held that position for two consecutive weeks while reaching #1 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart and #43 on the Billboard Global 200.

Domestically, "Good Goodbye" swept six Circle Chart categories and continues dominating streaming platforms Melon, Genie, Bugs, YouTube Music, FLO, and VIBE.

First Solo Concert After 12 Years

HWASA will meet fans at her first-ever solo concert this weekend. "2026 HWASA CONCERT " runs January 17-18 at Kyung Hee University's Grand Peace Hall in Seoul-a milestone moment 12 years after her 2014 debut with MAMAMOO.

The two-day event promises a deep dive into HWASA's musical identity as a solo artist. Since signing with PSY's P Nation in June 2023, she has released self-directed music including "I Love My Body," "NA," and now "Good Goodbye," establishing creative control over her work.

The concert title "MI CASA" (My House) suggests an intimate atmosphere where HWASA invites fans into her personal musical world. The shows will feature her distinctive performance style and extensive solo discography.

Why the Song Keeps Winning

"Good Goodbye" resonated because it doesn't sound like a hit. There are no shock drops or trend-chasing production choices. Instead, the midtempo track unfolds like a conversation-honest, controlled, and emotionally mature.

HWASA's vocal delivery matches this restraint. Her voice carries bruised warmth, speaking truth without raising volume. The song doesn't dramatize heartbreak for spectacle but captures the quiet devastation of an unwanted but accepted farewell.

That emotional authenticity created sustained listening rather than one-time streams. People returned to the track during late-night drives, commutes, and private moments-the kind of repeated behavior that builds chart longevity.

The song also benefited from HWASA's performance approach. She doesn't execute choreography in the traditional idol sense. She delivers scenes, acting through music. Her Blue Dragon Film Awards stage exemplified this-minimal production with maximum emotional impact.

As "Good Goodbye" continues accumulating PAKs with no sign of slowing, HWASA's record may climb higher. The achievement already cements her position as one of K-pop's most successful and culturally significant solo artists.
