BTS Deletes All Instagram Posts Before March 20 Album Release

BTS shocked fans worldwide when their official Instagram account went completely blank on January 1, just hours after announcing their March 20 comeback. The bold move has ARMY speculating about what's coming next.

The group's @bts.bighitofficial account, which has 77.6 million followers, now shows zero posts. Every photo, video, and caption from years of content has vanished.

First Comeback in Nearly Four Years

This will be BTS's first full-group release since "Proof" dropped on June 10, 2022. That anthology album came right before all seven members began South Korea's mandatory military service.

All members finished their service by June 2025-Jin in June 2024, J-Hope in October 2024, and RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook between June 10-11, 2025. Suga completed his alternative service on June 21, 2025.

Handwritten Letters Revealed the Date

The comeback wasn't announced through social media or a press release. Instead, BTS sent personal handwritten letters to fans' homes-specifically those who've held Weverse Gold memberships for three years.

Each letter included the date "2026.03.20" along with heartfelt messages.

RM: "I've been waiting for this more earnestly than anyone."

Jin: "Thank you so much for waiting for us."

J-Hope: "What I'd been thinking about is finally becoming reality!"

Jimin: "The year we meet again has arrived."

V: "We'll make more and better memories in 2026, so please look forward to it!"

Jungkook: "I miss you! Please take good care of us this year."

Why the Instagram Purge?

Wiping social media clean before a new era isn't unprecedented. Taylor Swift deleted everything in 2017 before "Reputation." But BTS has never done this before any previous comeback.

Fans immediately connected the dots: blank account + new album = fresh start.

"They've never cleared their account like this," one fan noted. "It makes me even more curious about what concept they're bringing."

The timing suggests BigHit Music is building maximum anticipation through mystery rather than traditional teasers.

What's Next

BigHit confirmed a world tour will follow the March 20 release. Specific dates and cities haven't been announced.

The members have been teasing new music for months. In November, RM posted on Weverse: "The music is coming out really well!! Everyone's trying. Please look forward to it."

Jungkook told Elle Korea: "I think this spring will be more important than ever."

BTS also rang in 2026 with fans through a Weverse Live countdown, marking their first New Year greeting as seven since 2022. During the stream, they cheered "Let BTS make it big again."

Fans who didn't receive physical letters can read them on Weverse later this month.
