Actor Kang You-seok brought his "u:niverse" fan meeting to a successful close on December 27, delivering dance performances and heartfelt moments to fans who packed Ewha Womans University's ECC Youngsan Theater.

The event marked the 30-year-old actor's first solo fan meeting since debuting in 2018. Fans got over two hours of conversation, games, and performances, with Kang showing off the dance skills he developed for his role as former idol Um Jae-il in tvN's "Resident Playbook."

According to his agency Just Entertainment, Kang spent two months training in dance and vocals specifically for the fan meeting. He even pitched ideas for the dance medley himself, demonstrating hands-on involvement in planning the event.

"I prepared with half worry and half anticipation," Kang told fans during his closing remarks. "I hope this becomes a precious memory for you. Thanks to you, I've made memories I'll never forget. Let's meet again, and I hope next year brings you good fortune and health."

The fan meeting caps off what's been a breakthrough year for Kang. He appeared in three consecutive hit dramas throughout 2025, starting with Netflix's "When Life Gives You Tangerines" in March. Playing Yang Eun-myeong opposite IU and Park Bo-gum, Kang earned recognition in a series that went on to win Best Drama at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

His momentum continued with "Resident Playbook," the "Hospital Playlist" spinoff where he played Um Jae-il, a former K-pop idol turned OB-GYN resident. The character's popularity helped Kang rank fourth on Good Data Corporation's buzzworthy actors list. For the role, he performed on M Countdown as part of the fictional idol group High Boys.

Kang rounded out his drama triple-header with "Law and the City" (also titled "Seocho-dong"), appearing alongside Lee Jong-suk and Moon Ga-young in the legal drama that aired from July through August.

Beyond acting, Kang expanded into variety shows with MBC's "Part-Time Vacation," which premiered in November. The show sent him and "Resident Playbook" co-star Jung Jun-won to Tanzania, where they worked part-time jobs to fund travel experiences alongside comedians Lee Soo-ji and Kim Ah-young.

After closing out 2025 with back-to-back projects and his debut fan meeting, Kang's next moves are drawing industry attention as he heads into 2026.
