Jungkook surprised fans worldwide with a Christmas Eve gift that quickly climbed to the top of YouTube's global rankings. The BTS member released his rendition of "The Christmas Song" on December 23, racking up over 2 million views within 38 hours.

The cover secured the No. 1 position on YouTube's Global Popular Music Videos chart just 12 hours after its release. It also claimed the No. 2 spot on the platform's overall Global Popular Videos ranking and maintained its music video chart lead for two consecutive days.

Viral Performance Across 56 Countries

Within its first 24 hours, Jungkook's video surpassed 1.71 million views and reached No. 16 on YouTube's Most Viewed Videos globally. The release entered trending charts in 56 countries, topping Mexico's rankings while reaching No. 3 in Norway and No. 4 in both the United States and Indonesia.

Jungkook filmed the video himself, featuring Seoul's nighttime skyline as a backdrop. His interpretation draws from Johnny Stimson's 2020 version of the holiday standard, which itself reimagines Nat King Cole's 1946 classic. The original song was written by Mel Tormé and Robert Wells in 1945 and has become one of the most-performed Christmas songs in history.

Fan Response Trends on Social Media

The unexpected release sparked immediate celebration across social media platforms. "THANK YOU JUNGKOOK" trended on X (formerly Twitter) as fans expressed appreciation for the holiday surprise. The video was posted through BTS's official YouTube and SoundCloud channels at midnight KST on December 24.

This marks Jungkook's second Christmas cover. In 2017, he released "Oh Holy Night," which has since accumulated approximately 13 million streams on SoundCloud. His latest holiday offering arrives during an active period following his military discharge in June 2025.

BTS Reunion Plans for 2026

All seven BTS members completed their mandatory military service by June 2025, with the group announcing plans for a new album and world tour in spring 2026. The comeback will mark their first group album since 2020's Be and their first major tour since the Permission to Dance On Stage concerts wrapped in 2022.

Jungkook's Christmas cover serves as a reminder of his continued connection with fans during the anticipation period before BTS's full-group return next year.
