Spurs Release Son Heung-min Farewell Documentary Following Emotional Stadium Return
Tottenham has released "Heung-Min Son: Homecoming," a documentary capturing the South Korean star's final chapter at the club, following his December return to North London.
The film premiered on Tottenham's streaming platform this week, documenting Son's emotional farewell at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the December 9 Champions League match against Slavia Prague. The 33-year-old forward, now with LAFC, addressed fans before kickoff and signed a newly unveiled mural in his honor.
December Return Delivers Missing Goodbye
Son left Tottenham abruptly in August after announcing his departure at a Seoul press conference during the club's preseason tour. The timing meant no proper stadium farewell, prompting Tottenham to invite him back five months later.
"When I announced my decision to leave in Korea, I never got a proper chance to say goodbye to fans at the stadium," Son said before his return. Former defender Ledley King presented him with a commemorative trophy while fans heard directly from their former captain.
The mural on Tottenham High Road features Son's signature camera celebration and lifting the Europa League trophy-the moment that ended Tottenham's 17-year silverware drought in May. Son chose the design himself before signing it during his visit.
Ten Years in Numbers
Son joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for £22 million. Over ten seasons, he scored 173 goals with 101 assists in 454 appearances, placing fifth on the club's all-time scoring list.
Major achievements include the 2021-22 Premier League Golden Boot (shared with Mohamed Salah), the 2020 FIFA Puskás Award, and becoming the first Asian player to reach 100 Premier League goals. His partnership with Harry Kane produced 47 combined goals-the most prolific duo in Premier League history.
Son captained Tottenham to the 2025 Europa League title after a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Bilbao, finally delivering the trophy that had eluded him throughout his decade at the club.
LAFC Move and Legacy
Son moved to Los Angeles FC in August for $26.5 million, setting an MLS transfer record. The move came after he felt he had achieved everything possible at Tottenham and needed a new challenge.
"I came to north London as a kid who didn't speak English," Son told fans during his December return. "I leave as a grown man, a very proud man. I will always be Spurs and always be with you. This will always be my home."
The documentary joins existing tributes along Tottenham High Road, where murals of Ledley King and Harry Kane already stand. Tottenham announced the film on social media Monday, generating immediate excitement among supporters eager for one final look at their departing legend's journey.
