K-pop singer and actress Kim Sejeong released her comeback single "Solar System" on December 17, her first new music since the full-length album "Door" dropped in September 2023.

The single reimagines ballad singer Sung Si-kyung's 2011 track from his seventh album "The First." Sejeong transforms the melancholic original into a personal meditation on lost love, using celestial imagery to explore how people continue orbiting the memories of past relationships.

Producer Jukjae Shapes Acoustic Arrangement

Singer-songwriter Jukjae produced the track, crafting an acoustic soundscape that preserves the original's emotional core while highlighting Sejeong's vocal range. He approached the remake as an actor's monologue rather than traditional ballad production.

"We tried to express the sounds of planets with acoustic instruments," Jukjae said. "I hope listeners feel like they're breathing in sync with Sejeong's delivery."

Sejeong explained her connection to the lyrics: "That love was my sunshine, my whole world. Beside it, I became the moon, became a star, still revolving. From a distance, I turn and turn, ruminating on words I cannot say."

Music Video Features Emotional Performance

The visual shows Sejeong as a restaurant worker alongside actors Son Sung-chan and Lee Ju-won. The narrative builds tension through unexplained relationships between the three characters, letting emotional subtext communicate what dialogue doesn't.

A tearful close-up syncs with the lyrics "My love is growing distant / My yesterday is disappearing," delivering the video's most striking moment.

Career Update: Acting and Music

Sejeong launched her solo music career in November 2016 with "Flower Way," produced by Zico. The track peaked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart and earned her fastest music show win in K-pop history at the time.

She's since built her discography through self-written projects including EPs "Plant" (2020) and "I'm" (2021), culminating in 2023's "Door."

Her acting career has paralleled her music success. She won Best Actor at the 2022 and 2023 Asia Artist Awards, with lead roles in hit dramas "Business Proposal" and "The Uncanny Counter."

Currently, Sejeong stars in MBC's "Moon River," a historical fantasy drama that premiered November 7. She plays merchant Park Dal-i in a body-swap storyline opposite Kang Tae-oh's Crown Prince Lee Gang.

10th Anniversary Tour Planned

The single release launches Sejeong's 2026 schedule. Her "Tenth Letter" fan concert tour celebrating 10 years since her industry debut starts January 10 in Seoul, then travels to Taipei, Melbourne, Sydney, Manila, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Yokohama.

"I worked hard on this single hoping to push my vocal limits," Sejeong said. "I hope people resonate with it."
