BTS leader RM fell victim to an increasingly sophisticated spam tactic, sharing his experience with fans in a humorous social media post that highlights the evolving nature of digital scams.

The rapper posted a screenshot on December 2 showing a spam text that caught his attention with personalized content referencing running. "These days, spam messages are practically literature," RM wrote. "They must know I like running, because every preview makes my heart flutter... and I fall for it again."

The message opened with "Let's begin with a light, effortless run" before transitioning into poetic language about December wishes. The full text included phrases like "May warm happiness and bright smiles be with you throughout December" and "Like a gentle tremble spreading into comfort, a once-paused heartbeat finds its rhythm again."

RM's candid admission resonated with fans who appreciated his transparency about being deceived despite his awareness of scam tactics. The message specifically targeted information about his interests, demonstrating how modern spam has evolved beyond generic promotional content to leverage publicly available data about targets.

The post also sparked speculation among fans about potential themes for BTS's upcoming album, particularly after RM shared photos in November captioned "running cult club" showing the group rehearsing together.

RM recently made history as the first K-pop artist to deliver a keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit on October 29, 2025. Speaking at the Gyeongju Arts Center, he discussed K-pop's global success and called on world leaders to provide greater financial support for creative industries. His speech emphasized how cultural diversity and creativity drive innovation across borders.

BTS announced their full-group comeback during a July 2025 livestream on Weverse, confirming a new album for spring 2026 followed by a world tour. All seven members completed their mandatory South Korean military service by June 2025, with the group finishing album recording sessions in November 2025. The upcoming release marks their first group album in six years, following 2022's "Proof."
