BLACKPINK's ROSÉ Wins 2025 MAMA Song of the Year With Bruno Mars Hit 'APT.'
ROSÉ secured her biggest award yet as "APT." claimed the Song of the Year Daesang at the 2025 MAMA Awards held November 28 at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium.
The BLACKPINK vocalist accepted via video message, thanking fans and her team. "I want to sincerely thank the fans who gave so much love this year, as well as the composers and staff who worked hard to bring this music to the world," she said.
First K-Pop Artist to Win MTV VMA Song of the Year
The Bruno Mars collaboration already made history in September when ROSÉ became the first K-pop artist to win Song of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards. The achievement surpassed BTS, who were nominated in 2021 but didn't win.
Breaking Records at the Grammys
ROSÉ earned three Grammy nominations for "APT."-Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. She's the first K-pop artist nominated in the Big Four categories, making it the most-nominated song by any K-pop act in Grammy history.
Chart Domination Worldwide
Released October 2024, "APT." spent 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Global 200. On the Hot 100, the track debuted at number eight before peaking at number five in January 2025, making ROSÉ the first female K-pop artist to reach the top five.
The song became the longest-charting track by any K-pop act on the Hot 100 and topped charts in over 50 countries. It reached one billion Spotify streams in just 100 days, the second-fastest in platform history.
Inspired by a Korean drinking game, the pop-punk track blends new wave and indie rock with an addictive "apateu" chant that went viral globally.
Continuing Success
ROSÉ remains active with BLACKPINK's DEADLINE World Tour, which launched July 2025 in South Korea and runs through January 2026 across three continents.
The MAMA win adds another major trophy to "APT."'s collection, solidifying 2025 as ROSÉ's breakout year as a solo artist.
