The rumor mill is spinning hard for BLACKPINK fans. Multiple Korean outlets reported this week that the world's biggest girl group is prepping a full album for December 2025, but their label YG Entertainment isn't confirming anything just yet.

What We Know (And Don't Know)

According to industry reports from October 16, BLACKPINK has been working on new music while juggling their massive DEADLINE World Tour. The original plan? Drop something in October or November. The new timeline? Mid-December.

YG's official response was predictably vague: "Nothing is confirmed." Translation: don't book your comeback party just yet.

"JUMP" Already Proved They're Back

While fans wait for album details, BLACKPINK reminded everyone why they're still on top. Their July single "JUMP" debuted at #1 on Billboard's Global 200 with 123 million streams in week one-the fastest any K-pop girl group song has hit 300 million Spotify streams.

The track premiered live at their Seoul concert on July 5, marking the group's first performance together in nearly two years. Despite mixed initial reactions to its harder EDM sound, "JUMP" has racked up serious chart longevity.

The Solo Era That Kept Them Relevant

Here's what makes BLACKPINK different: even during their group hiatus, all four members stayed in the global spotlight.

Rosé became the first K-pop artist ever to win Song of the Year at the 2025 MTV VMAs for "APT." with Bruno Mars. The track hit one billion Spotify streams in 100 days-second-fastest in history.

Jennie's "Like JENNIE" dominated both Korean and international charts, becoming the most-streamed K-pop song by overseas fans in the first half of 2025.

Lisa snagged Best K-pop at the VMAs for "Born Again" and made waves at the Busan International Film Festival.

Jisoo just dropped "EYES CLOSED" with Zayn Malik on October 10, becoming the first Korean female solo artist to surpass one billion Spotify streams total.

Why This Album Matters

If December actually happens, this would be BLACKPINK's first full album since "BORN PINK" dropped in September 2022-three years ago. That record sold over 2 million copies in South Korea alone and made them the first K-pop girl group to top both the Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart.

The group's current setup is unique: they handle group activities through YG Entertainment while pursuing solo projects under their own labels. It's a balancing act that's working-for now.

The Waiting Game

YG has a history of taking their time with BLACKPINK releases, often prioritizing quality over rushed schedules. Given that all four members have evolved musically through their solo work, expectations are sky-high for what they'll deliver as a group.

For now, BLINKs worldwide are left refreshing YG's social media and dissecting every interview clip for hints. The only certainty? Whenever this album drops, it's going to break records.

Note: Album details remain unconfirmed by YG Entertainment as of October 17, 2025.
