SEVENTEEN's S.Coups and Mingyu have set a new milestone in K-pop history with their debut unit album "HYPE VIBES," selling 887,581 copies in its first week.

Record-Breaking First Week Performance

According to Hanteo Chart data from September 29 to October 5, the duo's mini-album topped the weekly album chart, achieving the highest first-week sales ever recorded by a K-pop sub-unit album. This breaks the previous record of 787,046 copies held by their fellow SEVENTEEN members Jeonghan and Wonwoo.

The album's success was immediate. "HYPE VIBES" sold over 600,000 copies on release day alone, marking the biggest first-day sales for any K-pop unit album in Hanteo history. By October 2, just four days after release, sales had surpassed 840,000 copies.

International Chart Success

The duo dominated charts across Asia. In Japan, the album ranked number one on Oricon's Daily Album Ranking and held the top spot for three consecutive days. In China, it conquered QQ Music's Digital Best-Seller Album chart for both daily and weekly rankings in the EP category, earning Triple Gold certification.

The title track "5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz)" topped Bugs' real-time chart upon release, while all six album tracks successfully entered Melon's Top 100.

Viral Challenge Success

The title track's challenge video, released on September 19, accumulated over 180 million views even before the official music release. Fellow SEVENTEEN members The8 and Seungkwan, along with featured artist Lay Bankz, participated in the challenge, amplifying its viral reach across social media platforms.

Music Show and Fan Engagement

S.Coups and Mingyu performed on Mnet's "M Countdown" on October 2 and MBC's "Show! Music Core" on October 4, showcasing both the title track and B-side "Worth it." Their performances highlighted exceptional live vocals and strong chemistry.

On October 5, the duo held a fan party titled "VIBE ALIVE: Chill Moments" at Seoul Women's University. SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan made a surprise appearance as special MC. The event featured live performances of "Fiesta" and "For you," along with interactive fan segments.

"Every moment of making this album was colorful," the duo shared at the fan party. "Our activities aren't over yet. We hope you'll continue to enjoy the various content we have planned."

Artist-Driven Project

S.Coups and Mingyu participated in writing and composing all six tracks on "HYPE VIBES," spanning multiple genres including hip-hop, pop, rock, and EDM. The authentic creative involvement reflects SEVENTEEN's identity as a self-producing group.

As SEVENTEEN continues their "SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] IN U.S." throughout October, the unit's record-breaking debut reinforces the group's powerful presence in the K-pop industry.
