BTS member's heartfelt fan song joins an elite collection of tracks with 300M+ streams, proving his solo dominance continues during military service

BTS's Jimin has reached 300 million Spotify streams with his solo track "Closer Than This," marking his sixth song to achieve this milestone. The achievement is particularly meaningful since the track was released on December 22, 2023, as a surprise Christmas gift to fans while Jimin was completing his military service.

Record-Breaking Fan Dedication

"Closer Than This" is described as "a heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin's genuine feelings for ARMY," BTS's fanbase. The song showcased Jimin's global reach when it achieved something unprecedented in music history.

The track topped iTunes' Top Songs chart in all 119 regions earlier this year, demonstrating the incredible loyalty of his international fanbase. This "all-kill" performance proved that even without active promotion, Jimin's music resonates worldwide.

Solo Streaming Powerhouse

Jimin now commands an impressive collection of high-streaming solo tracks on Spotify:

"Who" leads with over 2 billion streams, making it the first Asian solo song without collaborations to reach this milestone and the fastest song by a Korean act to achieve 2 billion streams

"Like Crazy" follows with 1.39 billion streams, notable for being the first song by a South Korean solo artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100

"Set Me Free Pt.2" has accumulated 435 million streams, while the English version of "Like Crazy" reached 384 million streams

"With You" (collaboration with Ha Sung-woon) rounds out the collection at 311 million streams

Breaking Asian Artist Barriers

Jimin's "Who" became the fastest Asian song in history to reach 2 billion streams, accomplished in just 427 days. The track also earned recognition as the most streamed K-pop song globally in 2024 and won K-pop Song of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

These achievements are remarkable considering they occurred while Jimin serves his mandatory military duty, which began in December 2023. He's scheduled for discharge in June 2025 alongside fellow BTS members Jungkook, RM, V, and SUGA.

Chart Longevity and Global Impact

Beyond streaming numbers, Jimin's tracks demonstrate impressive chart longevity. "Who" spent 33 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, setting the longest entry record for a K-pop solo song. The track continues performing strongly on global charts more than a year after release.

Spotify's 2024 Wrapped revealed that BTS dominated the most-streamed K-pop songs globally, with Jimin's "Who" taking the top spot. This success reflects not only individual talent but also the sophisticated global infrastructure K-pop has built.

Military Service Success Story

"Closer Than This" joining the 300 million club proves that authentic artistry transcends physical presence. The song was later included on Jimin's second studio album "MUSE" (2024), cementing its place in his official discography.

With six solo tracks surpassing 300 million streams and multiple Billboard records, Jimin has established himself as a formidable solo artist beyond BTS's group success. His consistent streaming growth during military service suggests his eventual return will generate significant commercial and cultural impact in the global music market.
