RIIZE Donation 2024: K-pop Group and Fans Raise 104 Million Won for Children's Medical Care

K-pop sensation RIIZE and their fanbase BRIIZE collaborated to donate 104,046,577 won ($77,800) to help cover medical expenses for sick children from low-income families, marking their second debut anniversary with a meaningful charitable gesture.
The Community Chest of Korea announced the donation on September 9, 2024, following a joint fundraising effort that combined the group's contribution with fan-driven campaigns.
How the Donation Worked
RIIZE donated 100 million won under their fan club BRIIZE's name as gratitude for their second anniversary support. Fans responded by organizing an online QR donation campaign from September 4-7, 2024, raising an additional 4,046,577 won.
The four-day QR code campaign allowed easy participation through the Community Chest website, generating significant interest from the K-pop community.
Supporting Sick Children
The donated funds will specifically support medical expenses for children from low-income families suffering from pediatric cancer, rare diseases, and those requiring cochlear implant surgery. This targeted approach aims to reduce financial burdens on families and help children access necessary healthcare.
RIIZE's Growing Charity Record
Since debuting on September 4, 2023, RIIZE has consistently supported disadvantaged youth through various charitable initiatives. The six-member SM Entertainment group includes Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Sohee, and Anton.
In January 2025, RIIZE donated another 100 million won to the Walking With Us Children's Foundation for music education programs serving underprivileged children. This pattern demonstrates sustained commitment to youth welfare.
Community Chest Recognition
Lee Seong-do, Director of the Community Chest's Fundraising Department, praised the campaign as "a good example of sharing culture created together by artists and fans," announcing plans to expand similar donation programs.
The Community Chest of Korea's Honor Society recognizes individuals donating at least 100 million won, with current K-pop members including Im Yoona, Bae Suzy, TWICE's Nayeon, and Red Velvet's Wendy.
K-pop Philanthropy Trend
RIIZE's donation reflects growing charitable involvement among K-pop artists. Recent examples include Stray Kids' Bang Chan donating 100 million won for athletes with disabilities in December 2024 and SEVENTEEN's Hoshi contributing 100 million won for educational infrastructure in Laos.
The collaborative model between RIIZE and BRIIZE demonstrates how fan communities can amplify charitable impact, potentially inspiring similar initiatives across the K-pop industry as artists and fans unite for social causes.
