NIKKE Hits #1 Japan Revenue After Bunny Update - September 2024 Success

Shift Up's mobile RPG claims top revenue spot in Japan following "COINS IN RUSH" event launch
Shift Up announced that "Goddess of Victory: NIKKE" reached #1 on Japan's App Store revenue rankings after launching its "COINS IN RUSH" update on September 4th. The game also secured 9th place in South Korea and 10th in Taiwan, marking another strong performance across Asian markets.
Bunny-Themed Update Drives Player Spending
The "COINS IN RUSH" event introduces two new SSR characters: Ade: Agent Bunny (Supporter) and Milk: Blooming Bunny (Attacker). The update features bunny girl costumes, running action mini-games, and limited-time character reruns that generated significant buzz before release.
New themed costumes include Rouge - Unlucky Rabbit (available through Costume Gacha) and Bay - Radiant Rabbit (obtainable via Cheer Bunny Pass), alongside returning popular bunny outfits from previous events.
Strong Performance in Competitive Japanese Market
This marks NIKKE's eighth time reaching #1 on Japan's App Store revenue charts since its November 2022 launch, cementing its position as a sustained hit in Japan's highly competitive mobile gaming market.
Japan remains NIKKE's largest revenue source, accounting for 58% of lifetime mobile spending at $592.3 million. The United States and South Korea follow with roughly $175.4 million and $170.8 million respectively.
The timing is significant as it comes ahead of NIKKE's third anniversary celebration. The game's second anniversary in November 2024 generated $50.4 million in mobile player spending, outperforming its first anniversary.
Revenue Success Amid Industry Competition
NIKKE has generated over $662 million in lifetime gross revenue as of November 2024, with recent reports indicating the game crossed $1 billion in mobile revenue by February 2025.
Parent company Shift Up recorded 30.4% revenue growth in 2024, reaching $151.2 million total revenue, with NIKKE contributing $105.3 million despite a 7.1% year-over-year decline. The company noted increasing competition in the mobile gaming space.
Global Expansion and Future Plans
NIKKE is preparing for official launch in China in 2025, with pre-registrations currently underway. Given that current billion-dollar revenue was achieved without the Chinese market, this expansion could provide substantial growth.
The game has maintained relevance through strategic collaborations with major franchises including Chainsaw Man, NieR: Automata, and Re:Zero, with a second Evangelion collaboration currently ongoing.
Looking ahead: As mobile gaming competition intensifies, NIKKE's consistent top-tier performance demonstrates effective content strategy and global fanbase engagement. The success of "COINS IN RUSH" builds anticipation for the upcoming third anniversary celebration.
The "COINS IN RUSH" event runs through September 23, 2025, available on mobile devices and PC.
