Julia Garner and Mark Foster have separated after more than six years together, a source told People Thursday morning. Representatives for both the "Ozark" star and the Foster the People frontman haven't responded to requests for comment, and neither Garner nor Foster has made a public statement.

The couple married in a New York courthouse ceremony in December 2019, after meeting at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and reconnecting years later when Foster began liking her Instagram posts. "I was like, 'Who's this guy liking all my photos? Is this a stalker?'" Garner recalled telling The Hollywood Reporter. "I clicked on him and I was like, 'Oh, Mark. Oh, he's cute.'" They got engaged during a trip to Montana in April 2019, a proposal Garner has described as involving a poem Foster wrote for her. At the wedding, Foster surprised her with an original song, "Lovers in a Stream," written and performed for their first dance. "It was very surreal, and the most beautiful present I've ever received," Garner told Vogue. "It felt like I was floating up in the air."

Foster was a fixture in Garner's career milestones from the sidelines: she thanked him from the stage after her first Emmy win for "Ozark" in 2019, and again after her 2023 Golden Globe win for the same role. The pair kept their relationship largely out of public view - they weren't regular red-carpet fixtures together, and their last confirmed joint public appearance was in October 2025.

Speculation about the marriage picked up in recent weeks after Garner was photographed without her wedding ring during appearances in both Paris and Los Angeles. Neither she nor Foster addressed the sightings at the time. People's report Thursday is the first confirmation, through a source rather than either party directly, that the marriage has ended.

Garner, 32, has built her career on "Ozark," for which she won three consecutive Emmys, and more recent film roles including "Weapons." Foster, 42, remains the lead singer of Foster the People, the Grammy-nominated band behind "Pumped Up Kicks" and other alternative-pop hits from the 2010s. Neither has commented on what led to the separation, and no divorce filing has been confirmed as of Thursday.
