LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT, and KATSEYE will release the collaborative digital single "ICONIC BY MISTAKE" on June 12 at 1 p.m. KST - three days from now. The three groups perform the song together for the first time on Mnet's M Countdown on June 11, the night before release. Source Music, BELIFT LAB, and HYBE x Geffen Records announced the project jointly on June 8.

The release is the first time all three groups have shared a single track. The songwriting credits include Justin Tranter, who has worked on multiple KATSEYE releases including "Tonight I Might," "Mean Girls," and "Pinky Up"; Madison Love, who has writing credits with Lady Gaga and BLACKPINK; and Alice Gao. The production is cross-label but sits within HYBE's orbit in each case.

Each group arrives at this collaboration from a different position. LE SSERAFIM's second studio album Pureflow Pt. 1 recently debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200, extending their streak to five consecutive albums entering the chart's Top 10. ILLIT has been building on the momentum of "It's Me," earning music show wins in Korea and Japan in recent weeks. KATSEYE took three trophies at last month's American Music Awards, including New Artist of the Year - the group's strongest awards-show performance since debuting in 2024.

The practical question around "ICONIC BY MISTAKE" is whether the combination produces something none of the three acts could reach individually, or whether the project reads as brand exercise rather than song. Collaborative singles between groups within the same label system tend to skew toward the latter; the creative credits here - three established Western pop songwriters, no listed producer from any of the three groups' core teams - suggest the song was built outside the acts' usual creative pipelines. Whether that loosens or flattens the result lands Friday.

The M Countdown performance on June 11 will be the first public signal.
