Patrick Dempsey Fired From 'Grey's Anatomy' Following Feud With Shonda Rhimes?
The reason for Patrick Dempsey's exit from the television series "Grey's Anatomy" was suspicious until now.
The recent speculations from Hollywood Take claim that the producer of the series, Shonda Rhimes, fired the lead male star from the medical drama series due to her problems with the actor.
The acclaimed producer hinted the same on "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore" when asked, "Have you ever killed off a character because you didn't like the actor?"
"Yes, and I'm not naming names," Rhimes replied sparking speculations that she had indeed fired Patrick from the show, E Online reported.
The speculations also suggest that Rhimes disliked Dempsey for his "celebrity" like behavior on the set. It is also rumored that she fired him for his alleged affair with an intern of the "Grey's Anatomy" series while he was still married to Jillian Frank.
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old actor claimed that he has moved on from his "Grey's Anatomy" character, Derek Shepherd, and now ready to explore new opportunities after admitting that it was hard for him to leave, Daily Mail reported.
He also indirectly hinted his disappointment to the producer of the show.
"I think she loves being provocative," Dempsey said as reported by Entertainment Weekly. "That gets people talking about all the stuff that she's doing."
Patrick Dempsey, who is referred to as McDreamy in the "Grey's Anatomy" series, also expressed his happiness in doing a movie after his sudden exit from the show. He said that the experience has helped him get over the sadness of separation from the series after working there for almost 10 years.
Patrick is currently focusing on his racing career with Porsche. He will also be seen next in the upcoming film "Bridget Jones Baby" slated to be released on Sept. 16, 2016.
Meanwhile, "Grey's Anatomy" was recently titled as the "Favorite Network TV Drama" at the 2016 People's Choice Awards. The next episodes of season 12 will start airing on Feb. 11, 2016.
