Green Day Working On New Album For 2016? ‘There’s Definitely A Great Spirit Going On’

After being inducted in the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" last year, more and more rumors have spread around stating that Green Day might be releasing a new album this 2016.

 "There's definitely a great spirit going on," Green Day vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong said in an interview, courtesy of Loudwire. "We've always been pretty charged up."

Furthermore, he revealed that song have already been written prior to receiving the prestigious award, Franchise Herald reported.

"Before we found any of this out, I had already written a few songs and everybody was really excited by them," Armstrong explained. "And then we heard about the Hall of Fame, and we were just blown away."

In addition, the iconic Green Day frontman commented that the band intends to put some time and effort on their new album.

"We're going to take our time, he said in an interview with RollingStone.

"We're not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we're honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album."

As for rumors spreading around regarding a 2016 release of their new record, it has been dispelled when Billie Joe Armstrong stated that the band is not sure on when the album will come out. However, they have already written around 5 songs by now, as claimed by Loudwire.

"I'm gonna take it really slow," he stated.

"I'm just gonna make sure every moment is inspired and that we have something that's really special to us. And right now with the songs that we have, it's going in the right direction."

Though fans won't be able to pin down exactly if Green Day will be releasing a new album this 2016, those eagerly awaiting for the band's latest record can rest assure that they are working hard at it.
