Tech Heavy BMW i8 Spyder Unveiled At CES 2016
German car manufacturer BMW awed the tech and motoring community when it unveiled the BMW i8 Spyder at the ongoing 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The latest iteration of the BMW i8 Spyder boats cutting edge electronics and top of the line technology features.
BMW said that part of the main goal in designing the i8 Spyder is to incorporate next generation car architecture with cutting edge electronics and technology. BMW chose the CES 2016 to be the perfect stage to unveil its latest i Vision Future line of cars.
The BMW i Vision Future project is a concept car from the German car manufacturer. The company is developing the project in order to turn it into sort of a pioneering campaign when it comes to smart interior technology.
According to Tech Times, cars under the i Vision Future project sport sleek exterior which is evident to the BMW i8 Spyder model. What separates the Spyder from other cars unveiled or displayed at the CES 2016 is its interior technology features.
The BMW i8 Spyder has quintessential high-tech features like voice control support, touch sensitive surfaces and connectivity with mobile devices. However, the feature that has received the most attention is the one called AirTouch technology.
Engineers at BMW developed AirTouch technology that allows the car to recognize hand movements. This new feature will allow drivers and passengers to control the car's panorama display without having to actually touch the display's surface.
According to Architectural Digest, users can program AirTouch technology in such a way that a mere flick of the wrist will initial the car to call home, change audio tracks and navigate directions. The centerpiece of the new BMW i Vision Future line of cars is the 21-inch panorama display that is located on the dashboard on the passenger side. Through the integration of AirTouch technology, motorists will be able to control both the internal and external functions of the car.
