Outlander cast Caitriona Balfe insists she's not dating co-star Sam Heughan

A new beginning is the overall theme for Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) when "Outlander" season 2 release date arrives. Spoilers reveal that they'll start the season in France and meet new people. However, a familiar face will return and make them realize that it won't be that easy.

With the release date looming, a familiar face is about to resurface in "Outlander" season 2 and is acclimatizing well to her new life and new husband, it is hard for her to go back to her normal life, especially if it features a man who tortured her and Jamie.

"Meanwhile, Claire's pregnancy presents challenges of its own in Season 2, especially in how it affects her role in their efforts to stop the uprising," TV Line wrote in its "Outlander" season 2 spoilers. "But that will hardly be the biggest issue for Mrs. Fraser, who finds herself - major spoiler alert! - reunited with her 1940s husband during the season."

Frank Randall is Claire's wife from the original period she was from, the 1940s. When she was sucked back to the 1700s, she met one of Frank's ancestors who turned out to be a cruel government officer named Black Jack. This man tried to rape her several times and did it successfully to her husband Jamie. In last season's finale, Black Jack was killed.

Balfe also teased some "Outlander" season spoilers as she said it will be hard for her character to talk to her husband from 1940s after everything that happened with his ancestors being the culprit.

"There is that reverse thing where every time she looks at Frank, she can't help but see Black Jack," Caitriona Balfe said. "There's many layers of why that relationship is difficult when she goes back. She's definitely not the same woman that left."

The actress also said Claire will have a hard time determining what she really feels and wants because of the reunion.

"[Season 1] was a very reactionary season," she added. "She was in survival mode. The difference with this season is there's been time to be in one place and contemplate. Things are sitting with her a lot more, and she has time to consider her place and how she feels."

"Outlander" season 2 release is said to be around March or April, according to executive producer Ronald Moore.
