'Elementary' Season 4 Spoilers: Actress Betty Gilpin Set To Play Sherlock's Love Interest
"Elementary" season 4 spoilers revealed that actress Betty Gilpin has landed a role in the CSB series as Sherlock's potential love interest.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Gilpin, best known for playing Dr. Carrie Roman on "Nurse Jackie," will play the recurring role of Fiona Helbron, "a brilliant and socially awkward software engineer." Fiona describes herself as "neuro-atypical," however, some might see her as a high-functioning autistic. She also has a hard time reading people, rigidly adheres to rules, and can't lie.
Sherlock, meanwhile, finds it easy to break rules and spin tales. In the books, movies, and TV series, the famous detective is as a person who has a penchant for reading other people's lives, which can be annoying for some.
Fiona meets Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) during a murder investigation. Fiona then learns that she and Sherlock share a lot in common. The two realize that they are "odd but gifted people navigating life on their own terms" and "find themselves drawn to each other."
Gilpin is set to make her debut appearance in an episode titled "Murder Ex Machina" on Jan. 21, and will return in at least another episode.
In other "Elementary" Season 4 spoilers, while Sherlock is set to find romance, Joan rekindled her relationship with her stepfather in this week's episode.
"When Watson's stepfather (John Heard) writes a crime novel based on her work with Holmes without her knowledge, an underlying issue in their relationship is revealed," reads episode 7's synopsis published by International Business Times. "Also, as Holmes and Watson investigate a retired FBI agent's murder, they discover the man's death is connected to an unsolved case from the victim's career."
While it's exciting to see how Fiona and Sherlock's romance unfold, it doesn't seem likely to be a long term relationship.
