'Thor: Ragnarok' News; Veteran Actress To Play Villain; Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston Reprise Iconic Roles

The latest news on "Thor: Ragnarok revealed the addition of Oscar-winning actress, Cate Blanchett, who plains the main villain in the Chris Hemsworth-starrer.
If the rumors prove true, it will be Blanchett's first time to star in a superhero-themed movie, although she has already dipped her toes in fantasy movies when she starred in the critically acclaimed "Lord of the Rings" movies as Galadriel.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is the third movie in the comics-turned-movie franchise from Marvel.
The movie will see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the iconic Norse mythological character, Thor. Tom Hiddleston will also reprise his character as Loki, the perceived antagonist in the franchise and Thor's brother.
Aside from Caate Blanchett's character, news updates about "Thor: Ragnarok" revealed that Mark Ruffalo will join the cast as the Hulk, the first time that the green monster is shown outside the "Avengers" franchise.
According to the news report from Perez Hilton, Cate Blanchett's character in "Thor: Ragnarok" is still a mystery but there are rumors claiming that she might be playing a major role.
Rumors claim that Blanchett might play the villain Hela, who is the Norse goddess of death. For some fans, the title of the upcoming movie is already a hints of the character. Devoted fans speculate that Hela will help Loki in bringing Ragnarok into Asgard which is an excellent take on the title itself. Although it is very interesting, no official word yet confirming the fan theory.
At the helm of "Thor: Ragnarok" is director Taika Waiti. The movie is currently scheduled to hit movie theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. Prominent scriptwriter Stehany Folson heads the team that will pen the movie, according to Deadline.
If the news about the addition of Cate Blanchett in the "Thor: Ragnarok" proves true, the Oscar winner will add gravitas to the role as she received nominations from the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild for her role in "Carol."
