Motorhead Singer Lemmy Kilmister Dead At 70!

Heavy metal singer and Motorhead front man Lemmy Kilmister was reportedly dead last Monday after her succumbed to his battle with cancer.

The Motorhead band took to their Facebook page to confirm that Lemmy Kilmister is dead saying, "There is no easy way to say this ... our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer."

The statement also said that Lemmy Kilmister, who just turned 70 last Christmas Eve, just learned about his disease on December 26, Rolling Stone said.

"We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren't words," the statement continued. "We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please... play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy's music LOUD. Have a drink or few. Share stories. Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself. HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT."

Prior to his cancer, Lemmy Kilmister, who is known for heavy drinking, had suffered a number of health ailments in the past years that resulted to the postponement of his concerts. In 2014, he suffered from hematoma.

Last August, Lemmy Kilmister even told Rolling Stone that he is in good condition.

"I'm all right, you know," he said. "I'm not dying yet."

Meanwhile, his friend artist Ozzy Osbourne, whom he greatly influenced, has paid his tribute to the heavy metal legend.

"Lost one of my best friends, Lemmy, today," Ozzy Osbourne tweeted upon hearing the news that Lemmy Kilmister is dead. "He will be sadly missed. He was a warrior and a legend. I will see you on the other side."

Lemmy Kilmister started his career as roadie for the Jimi Hendrix Experience and has later joined rock band Hawkwind. In 1977, he formed his own band Motorhead, Wall Street Journal said in a report.
