'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Return Spoilers: Will Mid-Season Premiere Kill Major Character?
After an exhilarating first half, tears will flood beds, sofas or audiences' entire home when the mid-season premiere of "The Walking Dead" season 6 returns on Feb. 14 and spoilers reveal that some major characters will not make it past the sixth run.
"Episode 9 is one of the biggest episodes we've done. So many people die," Showrunner Scott Gimple said, which earned a laugh from comic creator Robert Kirkman.
Executive producer Greg Nicotero also teased spoilers to Empire Magazine as he said the remaining "The Walking Dead" season 6 episodes is climbing towards a major death. He also described the rest of the season as "relentless" and "heartbreaking."
"The Walking Dead" season 6 return will mark the start of the era of Negan (to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the psychotic, menacing villain in the comic book. In the comics, Rick Grimes' first encounter with Negan ended horribly for his group.
The bat-wielding leader of The Saviors, went out of his way to confront Grimes after his men are killed. He made a statement that he owns everything in the place and nothing will get in his way by blowing off Glenn's brains using his bat which he affectionately calls Lucille.
Gimple has been selling "The Walking Dead" season 6 return as something gloomy for die hard fans.
"The back half of the season will involve some crying and screaming at the TV set," Gimple told TV Guide.
Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, also said "The Walking Dead" season 6 return will be like a new beginning for the show.
"It almost feels like the end of episode 9 is a chapter finish, and then episode 10 is a completely different flavor, something we've never seen before in the show," he told Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross.
"And then what begins to happen - because we've been looking so inwardly, and it's been much more about group dynamic and security - suddenly what happens is that the world starts to get a little bigger, and with that, we lift our heads up to the horizon, and in many instances the horizon is a beautiful in one direction, and in other directions it's a terrible, terrible nightmare. It's an exciting time."
Watch out for more spoilers for "The Walking Dead" season 6 ahead of the show's return next month.
