HTC Vive Release Date Finally Revealed? Front Facing Camera To Compete With Oculus Rift Specs?

HTC Vive release date has not yet been confirmed but its first  window launch is scheduled in April.

The device expected to come as a strong competitor to Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.

All three are rumored to be having a formal release date in late 2016, PC Advisor reported.

The new consumer model of HTC Vive headset will have a 1600x1200px display, which when split across two eyes equates to 1080x1200 pixel for each eye, providing a detailed environment to gamers or users.

This feature is comparably better than PlayStation VR's 960x1080px offering.

HTC Vive also offers a refresh rate of 90Hz rendering 90fps (frames per second). This obliterates jitters that are present in other virtual reality gadgets that give a feeling of nausea sometimes.

The device sports a "Lighthouse" base station feature, which when coupled with more than 70 sensors allows the user to track quickly and accurately in a 15x15 feet space, PC Advisor revealed.

On the other hand, Oculus Rift and PlayStation, belonging to mainstream VR manufacturers, currently offer only stationary head tracking.

In addition to the specs and release date news mentioned, the new front facing camera in HTC Vive promises to enhance the VR experience as it will allow the user to identify static and moving objects in the virtual environment. This means that users will be forewarned about an approaching obstacle in real life.

Users will have to actually bend down to pick up an object or stretch a hand to open a drawer. HTC Vive gives a real life experience to the user while wearing the gadget and lends enriching experience.

Moreover, its hand controllers make virtual reality truly immersive, lending the competitive edge it needs against Oculus Rift.

HTV Vive controllers also feature triggers to shoot at objects during gaming sessions. They also have a touch-sensitive pad with standard buttons to enhance user friendliness, the Tech Republic reported.

With no specific release date yet, HTC Vive is reportedly going to hit the shelves late this year.
