'Prison Break' Spoilers: Season 5 To Show How Michael Scofield Faked His Death
Fox has confirmed that "Prison Break" season 5 will pick up where it left off and reveal how main character Michael Scofield faked his own death. Spoilers on how he actually did it is yet to be uncovered.
Last year in August, Fox bosses Dana Walden and Gary Newman officially announced that they are developing another season for the hit drama-thriller with main characters Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, despite the latter's death in the original show.
"I would describe it as a bit of a sequel, it picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show," Fox Chairman and CEO Walden said in a statement published by Entertainment Weekly. "The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. It definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series and for a new audience... It'll start after where we left the Scofields in the final season."
Original cast member Sarah Wayne Callies remains unconfirmed for the revival of the series. The actress previously told Forbes that she would only return "if the material is either worthy of the faith that the fans put in it or it's not."
Fans of the franchise have their own speculations of how Scofield will return in "Prison Break" season 5. Walden shed light on the matter, revealing that original series creator Paul Scheuring has pitched a very logical and believable explanation why the characters are still very much alive and moving around the world.
"Paul was not a part of the final seasons of 'Prison Break,'" Walden said. "He had some other ideas about where these characters were headed, but it will connect to that episode. He's not going to disregard it. You will get a satisfying answer to why these characters are still alive."
While producers have yet to officially reveal the show's plot, it is likely that Scofield's faked death will be the highlight of "Prison Break" season 5.
