Xiaomi Laptop - Game Changer Among PCs; Boasts High Specs With Low Price Tag
The upcoming Xiaomi laptop could set the bar higher among PCs by featuring impressive specs on a low price tag.
Xiaomi offers an array of products from smartphones, water purifiers and other electronic gadgets. And today, the company tests waters in the PC market with its first laptop.
According to reports, the Chinese tech firm's first Ultrabook boasts of high specs that can compete with Apple's Macbook Air. Also, like any other Xiaomi devices, it has lower price tag compared to its competitors.
The unknown Xiaomi laptop has been listed for pre-order at a Chinese retailer Banggood for a price of £490.50 or approximately $720, TechRadar reported.
Beta News added that Xiaomi has been branded as "Apple of China," which allegedly borrows "inspiration" from Apple's iPhone series. Its laptop draws comparison with Apple's Macbook Air as the unknown laptop sports an aluminum design.
As for the Xiaomi specs, the inexpensive laptop pulls off a 15.6-inch screen with 1080p resolution. Also, it has Intel Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M GPU paired with 8GB of RAM. While other features include two USB ports, HDMI port, front-facing camera and headphone port. In addition, it comes with a long and thin port, which TechRadar noted could point out to a docking station.
Though Xiaomi's laptop boasts of high specs and low price tag, Microsoft fans might refrain from buying this product. It has been said that due to "cost cutting," the device will run on Linux.
Given that the specs listing from Banggood seems accurate, Xiaomi might finally launch its first laptop on Tuesday. The company confirmed a scheduled event for a product launch on Tuesday.
On the aforementioned event shared on Weibo by Lei Jun, the most anticipated Xiaomi Redmi 3 and Xiaomi Mi 5 are expected to make its debut in China. Teasers have already confirmed the former's specs features and design ahead of the unnveiling, NDTV Gadgets 360 reported.
