Golden State Warriors Star Stephen Curry News, Injury Update: 'Chef Curry' Calls Shin Injury 'Frustrating'
Golden State Warriors ace player Stephen Curry is disappointed about his current health status and describes his aggravating shin injury as "frustrating." "Chef Curry" suffered a shin contusion and was walked out of the court in the third quarter of his team's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The lingering injury was first reported in December, which caused the reigning regular season MVP to miss two games. It occurred during a game against the Sacramento Kings.
In the game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, Stephen Curry's shin hit the leg of Lakers big man Roy Hibbert. The Golden State Warriors player was able to stay in the game despite the pain, but checked out of the court five minutes later.
Despite the absence of Curry, the Warriors beat the Lakers, 109-88.
Stephen Curry only played 26 minutes of the entire regulation and managed to garner 17 crucial points. He shot 6 for 13 on the field, include 4 out of 8 in the rainbow territory. He also dished out six assists, grabbed a rebound and added three steals.
In a statement acquired by ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss, Stephen Curry was quoted saying, "It's just frustrating and annoying and any other adjective you want to throw in there. Long-term, it's not something that I'll have to worry about. It's just playing through an injury that's there."
"It doesn't get worse if I play on it, unless I get kicked, and that's happened three times since I did it, so hopefully it won't keep happening again."
Trainers and medical experts tending to Stephen Curry's shin injury told the superstar he will be fully healed in a matter of weeks, four weeks at most. The Golden State Warriors player said that he does not want to sit on the bench for four weeks and the best thing that he could do is protect his injury while playing on the floor.
Following the win against the Lakers, the Warriors posted a 33-2 record which currently stands as the best 35-game start in NBA history.
